MONAD DANCE CLUB BY-LAWS

(Revised October 11, 2018)



ARTICLE I - Name


Section 1. The name of the club shall be The Monad Dance Club.


ARTICLE II - Officers


Section 1. The officers of the club shall be President/co-presidents, Vice President and Treasurer.


Section 2. The duties of the officers shall be those usually assigned to each respective office.


Section 3. The term of each office shall be for the Club year, beginning July 1.


ARTICLE III - Election of Officers


Section 1. Election of officers shall be by majority vote at the last dance of the year.


ARTICLE IV - Executive Committee


Section 1. The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers of the club, their significant other and any interested members.


Section 2. This committee shall fill any offices which may be vacated during the Club year for the respective unexpired term or terms.


Section 3. This committee shall be responsible for organizing and presenting the October dance.


Section 4. This committee shall appoint the Chairs and membership of each individual dance committee for the year before the date of the October dance.


Section 5. This committee shall indicate the date and place of each dance, whether or not a catered meal will precede the dance, and the band agreeing to play for each dance. For dinner dances, this committee shall arrange for the caterer and contract for the price of the meal.


Section 6. This committee shall be responsible for changes in annual dues to the membership based upon projected costs for the upcoming year.


ARTICLE V - Membership


Section 1. The active membership of the club shall be limited to 140 people.


Section 2. The annual membership dues shall be adjusted by the Officers of the club as necessary to meet projected costs. The dues shall be payable before the first dance in October.


Section 3. There will be no restriction on who may become a member. The club encourages a lead/follow balance but there is no numerical requirement.


Section 4.  A person may attend a dance one time as a “guest” without paying dues, however if the person would like a meal, it needs to be paid for either by the person, or whomever has invited them.


Section 5. New membership may be made by paying dues to the Treasurer at any time. The dues amount for a new member will be prorated using a published schedule based on the month the person joins. A returning member may also pay the dues to the Treasurer at any time, however, the full yearly amount is required.


Section 6. The Executive Committee may ask anyone to cease attending dances if the Executive Committee decides that a person is disruptive or for any reason is deemed to be a problem. No dues will be returned.


ARTICLE VI - Committees


Section 1. Individual dance committees shall be responsible for the theme and table decorations for the dances.


ARTICLE VII - Dances


Section 1. Dances shall normally be held the second Tuesday of each month from October through May inclusive. Dates may be changed for extenuating circumstances. Months may be deleted from the schedule also for extenuating circumstances. No dues will be returned if a dance is canceled.


Section 2. The room will be available for decorating at 5:30 p.m., and a social time will start at 6:00 p.m. The dinner will be from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. The dance will be from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Cleanup will be from 9:30 - 10:00 p.m.


ARTICLE VIII - Amendments


Section 1. These by laws may be waived, amended, supplemented or repealed at any dance by the affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the club present at a dance.
